Â鶹ÊÓƵ School Now Ranked Number One in ISDA Debating

We have come to the end of the Independent Schools Debating Association (ISDA) Debating Competition and are pleased to announce some outstanding results.

Our Year 10 and Senior B teams represented us wonderfully at the Grand Final of the Independent Schools Debating Association (ISDA) Debating Competition held on Friday 22 June 2018 at Abbotsleigh. In a close debate on the topic 'We should allow emergency workers to strike', Year 10 students, Annie Chen, Eliza Crossley, Amala Cuganesan, Ariana Haghighi and Hazel Sung were the negative team and put up a valiant fight against a very polished Barker team. In the end, they lost by a small margin in an extremely close debate. Great things are sure to come for this team in the future!

Our Senior B team consisting of Year 11 students, Anna Brew, Yijun Cui, Diya Mehta, Ruihan Wang and Olivia Wu were determined before the start of their debate against Shore. On the topic, 'We should ban out-of-court settlements for cases of sexual assault and discrimination', our team took the negative side and powered though to win by a clear margin. This meant 11 wins in a row for the team to remain undefeated throughout the competition. Victory was sweet for our Year 11 students and their parents.

Every single member of the ISDA team has contributed to Â鶹ÊÓƵ School placing first out of 32 schools in the rankings for 2018. This is a truly wonderful effort from all eight teams and their coaches. The top eight schools are Â鶹ÊÓƵ School, Sydney Grammar, Abbotsleigh, Scots, Pymble Ladies College, Riverview, St Aloysius’ and Shore.
