Elizabeth Grace OAM (Dunstone, 1957) Elizabeth Grace OAM (Dunstone, 1957) was an Australian politician. She was a Liberal Party of Australia member of the Australian House of Representatives from March 1996 to October 1998, representing the Brisbane-based electorate of Lilley. Elizabeth Dunstone (1957) enrolled at Â鶹ÊÓƵ School into Pre-Kindergarten (then called Nursery) in 1944. In 1957 she completed the Leaving Certificate and was Captain of the A Hockey Team. After Â鶹ÊÓƵ School, Elizabeth moved to Brisbane and completed a Diploma of Teaching at the North Brisbane College of Advanced Education and an Associate Diploma of Speech and Drama though Trinity College London. She was a primary school teacher for many years and later an information clerk with the Queensland Government Travel Centre. In 1994, Elizabeth was the secretary of the Liberal Party’s Nundah branch. Elizabeth was elected to the House of Representatives at the 1996 federal election and was a Member of Parliament for 18 months. At the time of her election she had lived in Lilley for 22 years. While in Parliament she served on the House standing committees on family and community affairs, legal and constitutional affairs from 1996 to 1998, and also served as treasurer of the party’s conservative Lyons Forum faction. In 1999, Elizabeth moved to Maryborough to work as a special liaison officer for National Party MP Warren Truss. Later she returned to Brisbane and served in a number of voluntary positions, including president of the Rotary Club of Nundah, the Brisbane North Committee on the Ageing, and vice-president of the Northgate/Spring Hill and Districts Ambulance Committee. In 2001 Elizabeth was awarded an OAM for service to the community of Nundah. References
